Questions & Answers

Ask Question

Should I up grade bearings and lifters and valve springs?

Bought this 96 flhtcu but has a 93 flhs engine. Found a broke bolt in cam ign cup. And further inspection found a broke tap bit in the cam end. Yes I'm pissed.

First off, UGH! That's never a friendly surprise. Everyone here at PartsGiant towers has gone through a similar experience, more than once ... or ten times, probably. Now, to your questions; yes, you will need better valve springs. We recommend an S&S Valve Spring Kit as they're suitable for use up to a lift of .650" and since you're already into it, go for the cam bearings, too. I'd examine the lifters to make sure they're in good nick, otherwise, again - S&S lifters will do well for that. Really, take a good look at any of the wear parts to be sure you've got things on the straight n' narrow before getting everything buttoned up, just to be safe!
