Answer QuestionNo, it's not required, you simply disconnect and remove the exhaust valve cables and leave the servo motor plugged in. It's only when you remove the servo motor that you have to make that change in order to avoid any problems. Otherwise, just pull the cables that were connected to the stock exhaust and you're all set.
