Questions & Answers

Ask Question

Do I need to move the shifter linkage

I have a 2007 heritage softail and am thinking about buying these pipes. I know the kit comes with the bracket to move the coil but is there anything I need to do to the shifter linkages Thanks

No, so long as you have the OEM foot controls on your bike, there's no need to move any of the shifter components in order to install this exhaust on your machine. All Cobra exhaust components are designed and test-fitted on showroom floor condition machines. So long as that describes your bike, you shouldn't have any problems fitting these pipes with simple hand tools and an evening's worth of time in your garage.

Answer Question

Fitting Cobra Duals to 2000 Heritage

Will i have to re sight the coil a or fit a custom bracket , and will the bike still run ok as it a carb motor thanks

You should have no problem installing this system on that 2000 FLSTC Heritage.

Answer Question

Will I need an O2 sensor adapter for my 2016 FLSTC?

This system would have the proper O2 sensor threaded holes for the stock O2 sensors. No need for adapters unless you have gone to a different than stock size O2 sensor.

Answer Question

Does this have bungs for O2

Does this system have plugs for the bungs I’d equipped? My bike is 1998 FLSTS carbureted which does not have o2 sensor

In the cas of the 1998 FLSTS fishtail exhaust system, there are no provisions for fitting oxygen sensors since the fuel-injected bikes from that time didn't have them either. Consequently, there's no need to purchase O2 sensor plugs to fit this exhaust to your bike.

Answer Question

Can I change interchange the fishtail tips with billet tips. I bought pipes with fishtail tips. Where can I buy billet tips seperate.

I have a 2012 softail deluxe with stock air cleaner. Will I need to buy a fuel tuner when I install the true duals fishtail exhaust.

Replacement tips can be sourced from Cobra USA directly. For this particular exhaust system they do not provide us with a replacement part number. We currently only have tips that fit the speedster/dragster systems available to us.

Answer Question

does this hardware kit comes with the L/R brackets ?

I'm replacing the stock exhaust ,With the Cobra True Duals Fishtail Exhaust System .Do I have to adjust of get a fuel pak in order for my bike will run and sound good ?

Yes, all required installation hardware is included with this exhaust system. You will, however, have to re-use some of the OEM exhaust mounting components to complete the installation. Given that you're only replacing the stock pipes, this won't be a problem for you. There is no need to purchase any additional hardware to get everything bolted up. And, the included instructions do an excellent job of explaining exactly how to go about everything. As for fuel delivery, you'll absolutely want to adjust the bike's tuning in order to get the most out of this exhaust. To do that, we cant' say enough good things about the Cobra Fi2000R fuel controller. As the Fi2000R is development in tandem with the exhaust by Cobra, you'll find configuring it to your bike's exact needs rather simple as there are only three knobs on the device to adjust. That, and the instructions for the tuner provide an excellent baseline from which to start your mapping profile.

Answer Question

I will be using a FuelPak 3 because I'm replacing my V&H long shots with the Cobra fishtail duals. How hard is it to get the right map on the FP3 to handle the cobras? I have a stage 1 upgrade. would I just use the stock generic map and autotune?

Your best bet would be to continue with the tune you have for your current configuration, and then allowing the FP3's autotune function to do its magic. After a full tank of gas using the autotune feature, just flash over the recommended changes and you should be all set!

Answer Question

does it have the o2 sensor ports

Yes, all Cobra True Duals Fishtail exhaust systems include a provision for fitting the oxygen sensors on Harley-Davidson motorcycles that are fitted as such from the factory. In this way, you needn't make any permanent modifications to your machine in order to fit this exhaust system.

Answer Question

Fuel tuner?

What fuel pack do you recommend going to be running the true dual fishtails and the Cobra pro flow intake

For Cobra exhausts, we recommend a Cobra Fi2000R fuel tuner. The Fi2000R is developed specifically to work with Cobra exhausts and come with easy-to-follow instructions that explain exactly how to set up the device for your bike's specific needs. There's no smartphone interface either, just three dials on the tuner itself to get you down the road with the best possible throttle response and engine power output.

Answer Question

do you have to relocate the coil pack???

It really depends on what model year Softail it is that you have. For 1995 through 2006 model years, the coil stays in the stock location. For 2007+ model machines, yes - you will need to move the bracket in order to fit this exhaust. The good news is that this system includes a relocation bracket, along with easy-to-follow instructions so moving the coil is a simple, and clean operation. No custom wiring is required to relocate the stock coil.

Answer Question

Is this Cobra with all mounting hardware? Thanks.

Yes, everything you need is included in the box, though you will need to re-use some of the OEM exhaust hardware in order to complete the installation. So long as you have the stock exhaust on your bike, or you have the bolts and brackets associated with it on hand, you should have no problem fitting this system to your machine.
