Answer QuestionThere's nothing particularly difficult about changing out the Harley Davidson stator as compared to say, putting a new headlight on the bike or replacing the clutch plates. Of course, it really depends on your mechanical aptitude and the tools that you have. Though, for most bikes, no special tools are required. Before you start the job, however, make sure you have a Cylmer service manual on hand and study the stator replacement procedure for your bike there. The manuals come with step-by-step instructions that show you exactly how to get the job done. About the only specialty tool you'll need is a torque wrench. With that information, you should

...and do Stator go back slowly or abruptly? Thank you for any advice. 2007 Ultra Classic
Answer QuestionGenerally speaking, when one component within the charging system goes bad (stator or regulator/rectifier), the other unit isn't far behind. It's for this reason we recommend that you replace both components within the charging system whenever there's a problem. In your case, it's probably the stator that was bad, not the regulator/rectifier that you just replaced. The underlying reason is, when stator output begins to decline, the rectifier portion of the regulator/rectifier has to work hard to maintain proper output voltage. And, while that's exactly what it's designed to do, it can only do that for so long before it starts to fail as the rectifier circuit has been constantly taxed while you ride. So, for your bike, we recommend that you replace both, the stator and regulator/rectifier in order to be sure all is well as far as the charging system is concerned. To do that, you've already found the proper stator, just be sure to add a Drag Specialties Solid-State Voltage Regulator Of course, as I'm sure you understand, without having the bike here to examine, it's impossible to say for sure exactly what the problem happens to be. Before purchasing a bunch of parts to see what's wrong, we recommend a good check of the bike's electrical system before you get started with replacing any more parts. To do that, if you don't have one already, have a look at the Clymer Service Manual for your bike as it'll help you nail down the problem and then go from there.

Answer QuestionAs far as Harley-Davidson motorcycles are concerned, other than providing voltage for the spark. The signal for the spark comes from the ignition sensor pickup that's triggered off the crank. If anything, you'd want to start by looking at the ignition system to see if that's why you're not getting spark.

Answer QuestionOnce you select your machine from our fit guide, the amperage output will be displayed immediately below the main description.

Answer QuestionSo long as the OEM cover assembly on your machine is in good condition, there's no need to replace that along with the stator on your bike. Drag Specialties stators are designed to replace the OEM components without requiring any other modifications.
