Kuryakyn Adjustable Driver Backrest

Kuryakyn's Adjustable Driver Backrest installs in a slightly different way, depending on what machine it is that you have. In the case of the Harley Softail models that it fits, a pair of brackets are included in the kit which are used to fasten the sissy bar to the fender struts on the bike. In this way, the backrest is installed in a solid, workmanlike manner. For Honda VTX models, you'll need to remove the driver and passenger seats in order to affix the included brackets to the driver's seat base. In other words, you'll need to remove the OEM Honda VTX seat brackets in order to attach the backrest kit. The Yamaha Road Star driver's backrest also requires that you remove both seats from the bike. But unlike the VTX kit, you simply use the stock seat bracket that's attached to the rear fender to anchor it in position. In every case, there are no permanent modifications required to fit the adjustable backrest to your machine and all required installation hardware is included in the kit. One thing to be weary of, however - is that these kits are only tested on machines that employ stock seats. In the case of many aftermarket seats, their size and shape may interfere with the mounting scheme of this backrest kit.
