Was a very easy install with the additional harness my bike required. Material seems less then factory but it is an aftermarket replacement so I’m not disappointed at all by it. What all is needed to make this work for a 1997 fatboy flstf?

Will I need the sub harness? Plug n play with my existing wiring? I see some people say it's direct plug n play for 93-03 and others say 99-03. Which is it?
You would need the additional sub harness which is sold separately. You can find it on our site by searching for Drag Specialties sub-harness.
Does this electric read out display total mileage and trip mileage like my stock spedo does?

Yes, this speedo would read out just like the stock speedo. Just be aware that total mileage is stored in the original speedometer and cannot be transferred to this new speedo.

I have a 1998 Road King Classic. Would I need any wiring harness to install this or is this new speedometer all I need? Can I adjust the odometer reading to actual?
Any HD model before 1999 requires the sub-harness to complete installation. It just adapts the wiring for earlier model wiring to the 1999-2003 style plugs. You can find the required harness by searching "Drag Specialties Speedometer/Tachometer Sub-Harness" in our store search bar. All Drag Specialties speedometers ship with zero miles on the clock. They are non-programmable for mileage. Your local HD dealer should be able to record the proper replacement of the instrument for your records.
This unit functions just like the OEM speedometer on the models listed in our fit guide. When you run the proper sequence to display fault codes on your bike, they will be displayed in the same manner as the original Harley-Davidson speedometer.
Is there a plug that comes with this or will I have to use my current plug and attach it the the bolts/screws on the back of the new speedometer?

It really depends on what machine it is that you have. For 1993-2003 Harley models, it's just a matter of plugging it right into the OEM wire harness, albeit for some bikes, you'll have to cut a few wires off the speedo to get the job done. If you have an older bike, you'll need to purchase a Drag Specialties Speedometer/Tachometer Sub-Harness in order to complete the installation without having to fabricate any special connections.
