I have had great success with Cometic gasket sets. My motor failed before the gaskets :(, seriously though, I did over 8,000 miles on a 91 Fatboy and the gaskets and seals have not failed, even after having to adjust the pushrods, the o-rings have held.

So long as you the conversion kit you have is compatible with the stock 1997 Harley XLH1200 gasket set, if you were to choose a 1997 XLH1200 Sportster 1200 gasket kit, you should have no problems using this on your machine.
There are no transmission gaskets included with this particular kit. It includes everything for the engine itself, but since the same engine wasn't always mated to the same transmission by Harley-Davidson, those gaskets must be purchased separately.
