Up front, I’m not a huge fan of loud pipes. But I’m also not a big fan of noisy rattling engines. I bought a used Yamaha 1100 Silverado, 09 model, and that rattling engine was straight up raking on my last nerve. So, I read a few forums and the research told me 2 things. The time to worry is when they stop rattling and the best way to cure it was with loud pipes. So that’s what I did. I had to make a bracket to mount the top muffler, not sure why as the bottom one bolted straight on. But the ladies might not find me handsome but they sure do find me handy. So I quickly fabricated it myself and installed the.. The sound is great. They aren’t loud till you twist the throttle but by Jimmy I don’t hear that rattling engine any more at all and I am 100% happy about that. The cool part is there is no decel pop or backfire at all. And it runs better than it did. At least I imagine it does. That’s enough for me. I gave it heck for a while and no discoloration seems to be occurring at all. I honestly think the previous owner may have jetted it and put all the OEM crap back on before getting rid of it. I can’t say enough about these mufflers. When you hit the throttle it makes that ol 1100 Sound pretty mean, it’s bark is definitely worse than its bite now.
