Everything fit perfectly and they were installed in no time. Then when I started the bike you could hear the heavenly rumble that gave me goosebumps. The look, the fit, the sound. Bought the short shots at a great price. Took my time with install. Took about 2 hours. Thanks guys!
By Randall Z. on Verified Purchaser
Very pleased with the look and sound of these pipes. Be warned though they are LOUD. Paired with the FP3 tuner I have the idle cranked down to 800 rpm and it thumps like an old school Harley. Love them and the bike runs perfectly no decel pop and smooth as can be. Could not be more pleased with them installation was a breeze as well, takes about an hour.
By Randall Z. on Verified Purchaser
These babies are LOUD LOUD LOUD. I was surprised after watching many installation videos on YouTube that didn't seem as loud. The build quality fit and finish is typical Vance and Hines beauty. The installation is simple and the addition of the FP3 fuel pack is icing on the cake. Could not be more pleased with this exhaust system.

First of, I love these pipes, the sound, the quality of material and the color of it, easy to install and it came in fast. This exhaust DO fit 2017 Honda Shadow Phantom in case anyone is wondering and the only cons to it is that is Too loud! So loud that I had to installed the quiet baffles.

These pipes fit my Softail Slim like a glove. They look great, soungs great and i know cars hear me coming. I upgraded my intake to a top of the range V&A intake and it has given my bike even more power and it sounds even better now. Highly recommend doing both.

Excellent fit and sounds great.
By Streetdemon on
I have a Fat Boy Lo with these pipes, no baffles. Thay are loud and sound great! Neighbors may not appreciate them as much I do. Cars hear me coming and some times move out of my way. They are intimidating and make the bike sound mean. If you want loud cool pipes these are for you!

Answer QuestionYes, this system would fit. Vance & Hines mentions in the included installation instructions on moving the peg mounts to the upper frame location to accommodate fitment and retain the passenger pegs.

2009 Vstar 650 Classic
Answer QuestionFor that bike, you would need to reuse the front OEM head pipe. So basically, it's a 3/4 system for the V-Star 650.
By Hodgie
Answer QuestionYes, this system would fit a 2007 V-Star 650 classic. It would be recommended to install a jet kit as well. You can find one by search our site for Vance & Hines Carburetor Jet Kit.

Answer QuestionThe best tuner to work with your particular setup comes in the form of the Cobra Fi2000R Fuel Controller. It's simple to use and easy to install. The included instructions explain exactly how to go about adjusting the device (there are only three knobs on it) in order to get the most benefit from the new exhaust system. You'll find it's a really simple device to use. If you're comfortable with putting the exhaust on yourself, then the tuner won't be a problem at all.

Answer QuestionThe Honda VT750C2B Shadow 750 Phantom pipes remain the same up to 2019. You should have no problem getting them installed on a 2017 Honda VT750C2B Shadow 750 Phantom.

2010 Sportster 883 Iron
Answer QuestionThere are no exhaust gaskets included with this kit. And, in many cases, you can easily re-use the OEM exhaust gaskets upon the installation of this Sportster Iron Vance & Hines exhaust. Just be careful to have a look at them when you get the original exhaust off the bike to be sure they're up to snuff. Still, if you want to be absolutely sure nothing will hold up your installation, we do have a set of Cometic Race Style Sportster Iron exhaust gaskets to fit that back, Unfortunately, they can only be had in packages of ten.

2013 soft tail slim . What are the pros and cons if I remove the baffles in the short shot staggered exhaust pipes?
Answer QuestionIf your FLS had its fuel delivery tuned for the current configuration, then it's probably going to be pretty close to ideal when you put the Harley Slim Shortshots exhaust on there. Still, you may want to have the bike tuned in order to take full advantage of the new exhaust. In this way, you can be assured of the best possible throttle response (something you'll most likely notice) and power output. As for the baffles, about the only thing you get when pulling them off the bike is more noise. In fact, unless you're running the bike wide open everywhere you go, there's really no need to remove them. These exhausts are designed to provide the maximum power/throttle benefit with the baffles installed.
By Bryan
Answer QuestionYou shouldn't have any problems fitting this exhaust to your machine so long as the forward controls, at least their mounting brackets - don't protrude much beyond the engine case. We've seen plenty of these exhausts fitted to Sportsters with forward controls, so it's not likely to be an issue. As far as hardware is concerned, everything you need to put the exhaust on your bike is included in the box along with a set of easy-to-follow instructions. One caveat, however, is that you'll need to re-use some of the OEM exhaust mount hardware in order to complete the installation. So long as you have the stock exhaust on your bike, you should have no problem fitting this particular unit to your machine.

I own a new 2015 Honda shadow phantom 750, my top speed i ever gone on my bike is only 90 mph, and thats when im going full throttle. I read that your suppose to make your bike lighter for speed, and that you need i think a more wider exhaust, so i would like to know if this specific exhaust will increase my speed.
Answer QuestionIf fuel delivery is properly adjusted, you can expect a small increase in top-end speed with the installation of this full exhaust system. Whether or not that'll get you over 100 mp/h is hard to say, especially if you spend most of your time riding at higher altitudes. What is for certain is that, if you were to install the exhaust by itself without adjusting fueling, you'd probably notice a decrease in top speed since the engine wouldn't be tuned correctly for the new exhaust. In order to get the most power and performance out of the pipes, we recommend the installation of a Shadow Phantom Cobra Fi2000R Fuel Controller as well. That particular tuner is ideal for use with any full exhaust system. It allows you to add fuel where needed and, in doing so - will help you get the best possible benefit that comes with the installation of a full exhaust system. Again, it won't really increase top speed very much, but it'll certainly help you get there faster.
By Matt
Answer QuestionWith the installation of a new full exhaust system, you'll want to adjust fuel delivery in order to avoid poor throttle response and also, maximize engine power output. The first is almost always more annoying than the latter, especially when you're just cracking the throttle a little to improve the line you're taking mid corner. To mitigate these problems for your particular exhaust and machine combination, we recommend a Cobra Fi2000R Fuel Controller. With that device, you'll be able to add the extra fuel required to have the bike respond to even the most minute throttle inputs in a consistent and predicable manner. And of course, you'll get the best possible engine performance as well. Setting the device up is simple, and the included instructions do an excellent job of explaining everything.
By Alex
Answer QuestionWhile no other modifications are required, if you want to get the best possible benefit in power output and throttle response, we highly recommend a Cobra Fi2000R Fuel Controller to go along with this, or any other Shadow Phantom full exhaust system. The tuner device works much like a carburetor in terms of how it's set up - and the included instructions do an excellent job of explaining exactly how to get it set up for your bike's specific configuration.
By Big D
Answer QuestionProvided you have all of the original components included in that Harley Davidson Dynojet kit, then you should have everything you need to get the most out of this exhaust. Depending on which bike it is that you have, you may need to adjust the fuel needle, or you may need to install a different main jet. Those parts would have been included in that jet kit. And of course, all of this is explained in the jet kit's instructions.
By Monster
Answer QuestionYes, all required hardware is included with this exhaust to fit the 2014 Harley FXDL, though you will have to re-use some of the OEM exhaust's mounting hardware and fasteners. So long as you still have the stock exhaust on your bike, you should have no problems fitting the Vance & Hines system to your bike as you won't need to purchase any other Dyna Low Rider exhaust mounting parts. With regard to a tuning kit, yes - we highly recommend that you modify fuel delivery when installing this exhaust for the FXDL. In this way, you can be assured the best possible throttle response and engine power output. For the Shortshots, we recommend a Vance & Hines FP3 Fuelpak. Once you put the FP3 on your bike (literally, a five minute operation), all you need to do is install the free Vance & Hines app on your Android or iOS smartphone, configure it and you're all set. Plus, should you decide to add an air cleaner or put on a different exhaust in the future, the FP3 can be configured to deal with those changes easily.
By Duane
Answer QuestionVance & Hines exhausts do not come with exhaust gaskets. Provided the gaskets on your machine are in good shape, you can certainly re-use them when installing this exhaust. If you're unsure as to their condition, we have a wide range of Harley-Davidson exhaust gaskets available on our website to choose from depending on your needs.
By Andy
Answer QuestionVance & Hines Shortshots for the 2013 Sportster are equipped with heat shields that measure 1-3/4" in diameter.
By Anon.
Answer QuestionMost modern motorcycles will run well enough without having the fueling adjusted after the installation of an aftermarket Vance & Hines exhaust system. The stock fuel-injection system can compensate for some, but not all - fuel mapping requirements when you make a big change like installing an exhaust or air cleaner. Most of the roughness will be noticed around idle and at 1/3 throttle as those are the areas where emissions testing focus. While the bike may run lean or surge a lot at those RPMs, when you give it a handful, the bike picks right. If you spend most of your time just cruising around town or riding to-and-from work, for example - then you'll certainly want to get your bike re-mapped. This way, you get the best possible throttle response and the most engine power output, too. For a Vance & Hines exhaust, we prefer the Fuelpak FP3 or a Dynojet Power Commander V. Both of these units give you the adjustability you need to get the best performance out of any bike.
By Joey
Answer QuestionWhile you can probably get away with installing this Vance & Hines exhaust by itself, to get the best possible throttle response and engine performance, it's always best to adjust fueling accordingly. Basically, any time you change the way air gets into or out of, the motor, you'll want to install the appropriate jet kit to maximize any performance gains available from the new setup. We have a wide selection of jet kits that go well with this exhaust, including a Dynojet carburetor jet kit that comes with everything you need to tune your bike's fueling perfectly to go with the Vance & Hines exhaust.
By terry
Answer QuestionIt really depends on what configuration your machine already happens to be in: its state of tune, air cleaner used, altitude you're riding in &etc. The good news is that Vance & Hines produces a range of jet kits that are designed specifically to match their exhausts to your machine's fueling needs. Simply search our store for "Vance & Hines Carburetor Jet Kit" to find the jet kit you need to go along with your Vance & Hines exhaust.
