Cobra Classic Slashcut Exhaust System

First, that's awesome you've got a bike with that many miles on it! As far as changing things out - if you've got the original exhaust on your bike, then you won't have any problems fitting these pipes to your bike. They bolt straight in place of the old components without any customization. As for the carburetor matter, yes - you'll want to adjust the carburetor in order to get the most out of this exhaust. Depending on where you're riding, the stock carb may not allow for enough fuel to be delivered and you'll find yourself with a bike that stutters or just doesn't feel right at certainly throttle settings. To look after that, we recommend a stage 1 Dynojet Carburetor Jet Kit. It comes with all of the parts you need to properly delivery fuel to your bike's engine and the included instructions will explain exactly how to go about fitting and adjusting the carb to do that.

It varies by machine, but all Cobra exhaust systems come with any additional hardware that's required to complete the installation. You may need to re-use some of the stock exhaust mounting hardware, bolts &etc. to get the job done. So long as you have the stock exhaust on your bike, you should have no problem fitting these pipes to your machine.

These pipes are only compatible with the VT1100C they will not fit the VT1100C2 ACE models. Cobra does not currently produce any pipes that are compatible with the ACE American Classic Edition. Since the C50 is fuel-injected, yes, you'll certainly need to tune your bike's fuel delivery if you expect to have it run correctly when going from a stock exhaust to a complete system. If it's the stock exhaust that you currently have on your bike, any Suzuki C50 aftermarket exhaust system is going to be a significant improvement over that! The exhaust ships with fixed baffles, so if it turns out not to be loud enough for your needs, you won't be able to do much about it. Another option would be the Cobra Streetrod Slashdown Exhaust System - it's basically the same exhaust where the headers are concerned, only the muffler sections vary. But unlike the Slashcut exhaust, it's built with removable baffles. Whatever exhaust you choose, you'll certainly need to tune your bike's fuel delivery if you expect to have it run correctly when going from a stock exhaust to a complete system. The exhaust in question is indeed a complete system from the headers on back. You'd have to change the whole system in order to put it on. If you're looking for just the mufflers, the Cobra Slashcut Slip-On Exhaust is exactly what you need. They replace both of the stock mufflers and come with all of the required hardware to complete the installation.

All of Cobra's Classic Slashcut exhausts have baffles that are welded into place. You can't remove them, at least, not without permanently modifying the mufflers.

Of all the exhausts we have to fit the 2009 Suzuki Boulevard C50, the Classic Slashcut system will be the least intrusive for the rider and passenger. This is due to the larger muffler volume and the slashcut muffler design. The same goes for performance - when properly mapped for fuel delivery with a device such as the Cobra Fi2000 PowrPro Black Fuel Controller, you can expect increased power output and excellent throttle response. Still, with regard to sound, it's impossible for us to say exactly what would be defined as "deafness," - but you'll certainly find the system to be louder than the stock pipes. As previously stated, they're not the loudest pipes you could fit to that bike, so if you want more power and a system that's louder than stock, this is the system to get based on the description of your particular needs.

Two devices come to mind, depending on what your needs are. If you prefer a simple interface that you can just set and forget, check out the Vance & Hines FP3 fuel tuner. If you're more of a tinkerer and enjoy working with a smart phone, then Cobra's PowrPro Black would be more to your liking. For both devices, you'll need an iOS or Android-enabled phone in order to properly configure them. After that, you can just leave them be, or make small changes to the fuel maps in order to get the most power possible out of the Cobra Slashcut exhaust system.

So long as the rest of the engine is of the stock configuration and you have no more than an aftermarket air cleaner or air filter installed, you'd only need a stage one kit. Yes, the exhaust diameter referenced in the exhausts' description denotes the outside diameter of the Cobra muffler. In the case of the system to fit the Suzuki Volusia/C50, the Cobra Slashcut Exhaust system headers have an outside diameter of 1-3/4" that then tapers out to 2-1/2" for the muffler bodies. For your second question, yes - the Volusia 800 and the Boulevard C50 are the same bikes, just of different model years. For marketing reasons, starting with the 2005 model year, Suzuki decided to change rename their entire cruiser motorcycle line to "Boulevard" with various designations to show the type of bike, and it's displacement in cubic inches. C = classic, M = muscle, S = standard and the following number being rounded up to the nearest CI that the marketing types though made sense.
