Out of my hands

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Seems pretty stout again out of my hands someone else is installing it and probably going to ride it before I get the chance to. I'm hoping it'll solve the slipping issues under power but who knows what's going to happen.

Great clutch kit. Better have a strong grip for a strong clutch

By   on

This clutch made all the difference. Put this Barnett clutch in. Grips extra nice. When you lay into the throttle the clutch is right there accelerating you past all obstacles. But you better have a strong hand.

Best clutch in the business, period. Excellent services.

Absolutely GREAT product!

Unlike most other clutch sets you must upgrade your Clutch Springs in order to run an aftermarket STEEL Sprocket with less than 39 teeth for Highway use. Stock is 41 and if you ride on the freeway you can easily pass 100,000 miles on the stock 41 tooth sprocket. On the other hand, you may have put a lot of Custom work into your bike such as I have. I ride mine more than ANY of my other Big bikes and have easily won every contest I've been involved in. I haven't even entered them but my friends enter me without knowing. I have back halfed my bike as well as did a FULL Bobber build. I have 7 other bikes including a 1952 Harley Pan Head, 2015 Hyabusa and Kawasaki H2 and just put money down for one of three Indian Bobbers this Dealership was allocated. This company always take care care of me and will pass 100,000 miles with their products.

Questions & Answers

Ask Question

Does it come with installation instructions

Are all the disc the same thickness

Generic installation guidelines are provided with each kit. It encompasses how to soak the clutch plates prior to use and the advantages of certain oils in specific applications. Only kits that vary vastly from the original equipment will include detailed installation instructions. Most kits the plates will be the same thickness as stock. Barnett produces every kit to keep the same stack height as the original equipment unless designed for Barnett specific kits such as the Scorpion line of clutches.

Answer Question

Grinding gears

Going from first to second in my 97 xr650l it grinds the gears or just goes into nuetral also shifting seems to be pretty noisy and rough as well would installing a new clutch fix this issue?

It could be as simply as a clutch adjustment, as the clutch may not be fully disengaging to make the shift. You should start off by having the clutch adjusted properly then test riding to see if it takes care of the issue. You would also want to ensure that your clutch cable is in good condition. From there, perhaps change the oil to see if there is a significant amount of metal floating around in the engine/ If so, that would point to a transmission type of problem that you'd need to get into the motor to examine. Whatever you do, make sure you use a motorcycle-specific type of oil! During the oil change, have a look at the clutch pack. If the steel separator plates show a significant degree of wear (eg. black spots or discoloration) or the fibers are rather thin, then you'd want to replace that as well. From what you're experiencing, there should be a definite sign of a problem once you start inspecting these items.

Answer Question

I put my 2003 V-Rod in first and second gear and my V-Rod don't go no faster than 10 miles an hour what's wrong

It sounds as though your clutch is slipping quite a bit. Consequently, no matter what gear you put it in, the clutch is far too worn out to provide the correct drive. This would be especially true if this matter has been getting progressively worse. If this is the case, we can say with a high degree of confidence that it's a worn out V-Rod clutch that's causing this problem. By properly installing this complete Barnett V-Rod clutch kit along with the springs that are included, you should get back your bike's full running potential.

Answer Question

Synthetic Motorcycle oil

I use Amsoil Synthetic Metric Motorcycle oil in my bike, will that be an issue these parts?

So long as it's a motorcycle-specific type of oil that you're using, regardless as to whether it's conventional, semi or a full-synthetic type - you should have no problem using that oil with this, or any other motorcycle clutch components we sell. Basically, you want to avoid any type of engine oil with friction modifiers in it as that's what causes problems with clutch components that share the same oil with the rest of the engine. In the case of motorcycle-specific oils, those types of compounds are not included in them, so you shouldn't have any problem with your chosen Amsoil.
