Ricks components never disappoint!
By Marvin P. on Verified Purchaser
Previous owner installed a cheap R/R which left me stranded. After some research, everyone in the bike forums suggested to replace with Ricks. In my situation my connector was melted from the bad R/R so had to cut the wires on the old one and new one and just solder them directly. Everything was back to normal. Charging at 14.3 again. I have no doubt the Ricks R/R will hold up for a long time. When and if it goes I will upgrade to the mosfet version. Shell the money and get a good R/R.. will save you time and tons of money when you avoid over current from cheap R/Rs
By David C. on Verified Purchaser
Tried two cheap voltage regulators - neither one could control the voltage. Received this one and the voltage is spot on through idle and fast engine running.
By Robert F. on Verified Purchaser
Fixed my charging/battery drain problem.
By Fizzy on Verified Purchaser
Tried 3 rectifiers from 3 different brands in a single week. I'm sure you can guess they all went back quick lol. Ricks rectifier is the best option outside of oem. You will not regret it.

Seems to be a good quality part.
By Chris S. on Verified Purchaser
Good quality, works great.
By Kyle T. on Verified Purchaser
I have bought the cheaper versions that didn't last . This one corrected my problems. I had a battery drain and no charge problems. Nice part
By Allen C. on Verified Purchaser
Bought two cheap regulators for 1/8 of the price, both burn out in less than a week. Waited to do a review on this regulator. Have had no problems with this regulator.
By Craig B. on Verified Purchaser
I ordered some cheaper less expensive regulators and they were getting hot. They would stick closed and kill the battery. This one is quality made! It was twice the weight so the internals were made of good material. If your having issues with your cheap regulator buy one of these and problem solved! Am happy with the purchase!
By Justin M. on Verified Purchaser
Works great, time will tell.
By Derek on Verified Purchaser
High quality. Voltage was all over the place with a cheapo I had installed prior, but this fixed the problem right up.

Rick's Motorsports RR was perfect. Fit was plug and play and quality was spot on. Got me back on the road with confidence.
By 1124 J. on Verified Purchaser
Works perfectly! Was a little hesitant but it works great and looks like good quality materials! I'll buy again if I have too!
By Chris on Verified Purchaser
Installed this one and it works perfectly, very stable and reliable. Previously I had a Caltric but had to remove it as it was unstable and unreliable. Voltage was all over the place and sometimes no voltage at all. Lesson learned, don't go cheap on parts.
By T. on Verified Purchaser
Appeared to be well made, and fixed my overcharging problem. Thank you Rick's Motorsports!
By Robert R. on Verified Purchaser
Wasted $40 on Amazon. Big mistake! Rick's is the go to!
By Zachary L. on Verified Purchaser
Learned the hard way that eBay R/Rs are not the way to go. The Caltric branded one I ordered last year fried pretty quick. My first thought was that the Stator had taken a dump as I had put a fresh new battery in a few months after installing the $25 eBay Caltric. After metering everything out I pulled the Caltric and knew immediately I'd wasted my time troubleshooting, you could smell the Caltric had fried. So far so good with Rick's R/R, was glad the new battery was holding it's charge and wasn't harmed by the cheapo R/R. If or when I should say the stator goes out, I'll likely have a Rick's Stator ready to throw in.
By Samantha V. on Verified Purchaser
I will only order Rick's.
By Shawn B. on Verified Purchaser
Works great.
By Mark K. on Verified Purchaser
Works right. Impressive!
By Karl F. on Verified Purchaser

By Wilson P. on Verified Purchaser
Great. Stand by their product and name.
By Lester W. on Verified Purchaser
All good!
By Michael H. on Verified Purchaser
Fit and works just like it should. Don't waste your time or money on cheap knock offs. Everything that I have purchased from Rick's has been good quality parts, i.e. stator, CDI box, and I think even a speedometer. Nevertheless, you can stop shopping right here, you have found the sweet spot.

By Jonathan W. on Verified Purchaser
After a failed regulator cooked my battery, and a cheap replacement nearly cooking my new battery, the Ricks Motorsports Regulator/Rectifier proved to be the solution I desperately needed! It works perfectly and I could not be happier!
By Michael M. on Verified Purchaser
Parts were exact fit just plug and play. Would recommend to anyone.
By Casey on Verified Purchaser
Great price and worked better than OEM.
By Charles L. on Verified Purchaser
I installed and also bought a new battery. Immediately charging at 13.9 @300 RPMs. Have ridden about 250 miles now and still working very good. Problem solved!
By David F. on Verified Purchaser
Installation was quick and easy, it solved some of the issues but not all. I will be ordering a stator next.
By Roger M. on Verified Purchaser
So far, so good. Had a battery get fried due to voltage regulator. Replaced both regulator and battery. Don't do what I did. My first replacement was a cheap knockoff for 25 bucks . Didn't last 2 weeks and then fried the new battery. Rick's regulator is pumping out 14.2 volts and my battery is sitting charged at 12.9 . Don't waste your money and time on cheap stuff. Buy Rick's.
By Cole S. on Verified Purchaser
It has been working perfectly since I got it.
By Bryan B. on Verified Purchaser
The part fit like the original and works great. It turns out that my problem is the stator so I've just ordered that along with timing belt, thermostat and front fork seals. Ricks parts always fit like they are supposed to.
By James B. on Verified Purchaser
The value is high for this regulator/rectifier because there are few replacement options other than the expensive OEM piece. I have purchased this for my bike twice over the years. The first one eventually failed to regulate the charging rate and boiled the battery. The second one shorted positive to ground and blew the main fuse. I am ok with the 10 yr. life span for the price. This is a service to the older model Japanese motorcycle owner.
By Elson M. on Verified Purchaser
Nice quality
By Paul R. on Verified Purchaser
Didn't want to spend this much but you have to if you want it to work correctly. Don't waste your money on Amazon knock offs, I learned my lesson on the rectifier as well. It over heated and almost burnt my bike down.
By Brent B. on Verified Purchaser
Exactly fit to my bike. Thanks

Being old, I am not great on computers. Rick was the first company that had a phone number where a live person answered! Then when I got the product, I called my motorcycle friends, this is it, the place we used to find 30 yrs ago. Where you received great service and a great product.
By steve s. on Verified Purchaser
Tried 2 cheap ones off Amazon, both fried like an egg. This part is the correct one for the machine voltage right in range, came with what was needed to install, met my expectation. Worth every penny.
By Daniel B. on Verified Purchaser

Ordered a rectifier from another company dB electrical, found charging was ok but still not within factory spec, ordered the Ricks and it is perfect OEM fit and finish, charges the same now as the OEM one before issues, I would 100% recommend Ricks rectifiers to any one.
By Samdi H. on Verified Purchaser
Fits perfect & looks well made.
By Victor G. on Verified Purchaser
It is smaller than the original regulator but it seems to be well made. The cooling fins are horizontal to the wind flow, hopefully it doesn't over heat.
By Collin L. on Verified Purchaser

This R/R is exactly what I needed. Installed on my 2004 Yamaha R6. My battery kept draining and killing the bike after 15 minutes of riding. Battery wasn't getting charged whilst riding. Replaced the stator and it didn't fix the issue, so I replaced my R/R with this product and the problem is now solved! I can ride again! Great value, I would buy again from here.

By Robert H. on Verified Purchaser
My 2015 Indian Chieftain suddenly started showing a drop in voltage while out for a ride. It has a relatively new battery, so I was not sure what the cause could have been. I was pointed to the VR as the likely culprit (with the Stator as a fall back). I ordered a new VR here on a Tuesday evening, and had my replacement VR by late Saturday. Fitment was perfect and the new VR is working like a champ.
By Donald L. on Verified Purchaser
Put the part on and started riding. Very happy with Rick's motor sports. Rock on!
By Kelly J. on Verified Purchaser
Very satisfied with the part and service.
By John C. on Verified Purchaser
Well it works like it supposed to and so far so good. My luck has been bad in the past but this part has held up great. Hope it has warranty.
By Benjamin S. on Verified Purchaser
Very pleased with this product. I had bought 2 China cheap one's that didn't last a week before I bought a great quality rectifier from Rick's. So far I've not had any more problems.
By Amber D. on Verified Purchaser
This replacement is a bit thicker where it mounts with the bolts. Had to buy longer bolts, but works perfectly.
By Benjamin S. on Verified Purchaser
The rectifier I got is awesome I had bought 2 cheaper ones and they didn't last a week together. I was starting to worry so I ran across Ricks and even seen some of his videos online and I haven't had 1 problem out of my bike since. I don't usually leave reviews but this one deserves it.
By Larry U. on Verified Purchaser
Always good with Ricks.

By Jose R. on Verified Purchaser
Super amazing, I never try this and this product is #1.
By Ryland K. on Verified Purchaser
I intentionally DIDN'T want to buy those wicked cheap, made in China parts that LOOK like parts but actually fall apart in 2 months, or aren't able to carry the electrical current and blow out super fast. This regulator, from Rick's Motorsports, was perfect. It literally came the next day, I had the part on my bike and fixed within 24 hours of purchasing and most importantly, my bike is riding great! (This was the last fix after the epic amount of work of replacing the stator.)
By Tom V. on
Great regulator and fast shipping. Between the stator and this, my charging issues are gone on my Shadow 750.
By eric c on
No problems so far, but it's only been installed for about a month.
By dandrews on
I swapped out both the stator and my regulator/rectifier together after dealing with a no-charge issue. Everything with the electrical system was looking a little toasty including the wires. My old regulator was a non-finned OEM that had 15 years on it. The Ricks regulator is working rock solid.

2007 cbr600rr
Answer QuestionUnfortunately no, this is a conventionally-switch voltage regulator. I did check with all of our suppliers, but none of them produce one with MOSFET circuitry to fit your bike. Still, unlike the OEM unit, Rick's R/Rs are backed by a one year manufacturer warranty. And please keep in mind, if your R/R is failing, be sure to check stator output since, if that's weak, it makes the rectifier side of your R/R work harder (hotter) to keep delivering proper voltage to your bike. And consequently, it would be the stator that's actually causing your this particular component to fail.
By Anon.
I purchased both last year. At the stage in bike building to hook all electrics. The reg/red lithium battery specific is sizzling when it is plugged in and key turned to run. Would it be possible to used the other one the wrong one I pitched with a lithium battery?
Answer QuestionIt depends on the LiFeO4 battery you're using. That is to say, if it's a quality battery that has its own internal circuitry (BMS) to handle standard R/Rs that are not specifically engineered to work with lithium batteries, then you should be okay. The Rick's charging components are all designed to work the same as OEM, in terms of output performance, so you've got that side of the equation covered. As far as a battery that works best with these, we recommend the Antigravity RE-START Lithium-Ion Battery since they come with their own circuitry to regulate internal voltage and avoid charging problems from systems that are not designed specifically to charge LiFeO4-type batteries.

I have a 2005 Yamaha r6, does require “Rick's Motorsports Connector Set 11-103” Or is that connection for other models? Is this R/R plug and play for my model
Answer QuestionIf you are using an OEM/stock stator you would need to use the 11-103 connector set. If you search our website for Rick's Motorsports Wiring Harness Connector Kit, it will pop right up for you.
By makayla
Answer QuestionYou would want to have tests done on your regulator and your stator to be sure of what needs to be replaced.
By Anon.
Answer QuestionYes, if you check out for a 2001 SV650, that part would indeed work for the S model you have.
By Anon.
Answer QuestionTypically, if you are getting low voltage it is due to bad stator. Just need to do a resistance check on each wire of stator to determine if it's bad.
By Steveos
Answer QuestionIn the case of the '79 XS650, yes - this part eliminates both, the regulator and rectifier. It is not, however, a plug-and-play unit. You'll need to re-use the OEM plugs, if able, or otherwise, hardware it to the bike's harness. We've even had installers find modern connectors to replace the vintage plugs to get the job done. The choice is yours!
By Anon.
Answer QuestionYes, if you were to choose the 2009 Yamaha YZF-R6 replacement regulator/rectifier from our fit guide, you'd receive the correct part to fit your machine. It bolts straight in place of the stock R6 regulator/rectifier making for a simple installation that requires no cutting of the OEM wire harness.
By Michael
Answer QuestionIn the case of the Rick's regulator/rectifier for your machine, there's no need to purchase an adapter harness, or otherwise, any additional hardware. That particular machines uses plug end terminals for the electrical connections between the regulator/rectifier and the rest of the bike, downstream and upstream. As to your second question, yes - when the R/R fails, it's often because the stator isn't putting out enough juice. For these reasons, we recommend both items be replaced at the same time.
By Ninjaryder
Answer QuestionThe regulator to fit the 1988 Suzuki LS650 Savage 650 will have five wires in total. Three charge wires in a three pin plug, a hot and a ground in a separate three pin connector, one terminal is not used.
By Nate
I have a 1990 Kawasaki ninja zx6
Answer QuestionRick's regulator/rectifiers operate in the same way as the OEM unit they're designed to replace. In the case of the 1990 Ninja ZX-6, there's no over-heating protection. This is due to the fact that, if the rest of the charging system is operating properly, namely the stator, then there's no need for the additional circuitry. If you find yourself having one failed regulator after another, it's time to look at the stator output on your machine since the regulator/rectifier has to work hardware to make up for a poor-running stator. In fact, R/Rs typically don't just fail on their own, it's almost always the results of extra demands being placed on the unit itself either, in the form of poor stator performance, or lots of extra electronic devices being attached to the bike. For these reasons, we always recommend that, when replacing the regulator/rectifier, you also service the stator on your machine with a Rick's Motorsports Stator. In this way, you can be assured the complete charging system on your bike is up to snuff when you get all the new gear put on.
By J
Answer QuestionIf you were to choose the 2001 Honda VT1100T Shadow 1100 A.C.E. Tourer regulator/rectifier from our fit guide, you'd receive the correct unit to plug straight into the OEM wire harness on that machine. You won't need to cut, splice, or otherwise modify the stock wire harness to fit this unit to your bike.
By Modibo W.
Answer QuestionGenerally speaking, if you've had a few regulator/rectifiers fail in quick succession, there's a good chance the stator on your bike is weak. That is to say, if the stator's voltage output starts falling below normal for extended periods of time, then the rectifier portion of the R/R has to work hard to keep output voltage on your bike normal. Over time, the stress of constantly maintaining proper output voltage takes its toll on the regulator/rectifier. Before going with another regulator/rectifier by itself, we highly recommend that you check the output voltage on your bike's stator. If you're unsure of how to go about that, have a look at your bike's service manual, or if you don't have one, a Haynes service manual will tell you how to go about testing your bike's stator. And from there, you'll know whether or not all of those R/Rs you've replaced were really the problem. Now that I've said all of that, all of Rick's charging components are backed by a one year manufacturer's warranty. The parts are quality built for reliability.
By Doug G
Answer QuestionIn the case of the 2007 Suzuki GSX-R600, yes, this particular R/R comes with OEM-type connectors which makes installation, literally - a snap.
By AHS
Answer QuestionIf you were to choose the 1986 Suzuki GV1400GT Cavalcade regulator/rectifier from our fit guide, you'd receive the correct unit to fit your machine. We guarantee it!
By Striker
Answer QuestionRick's Regulator/Rectifiers are designed to work in the same manner as the OEM unit that you select from our fit guide. So long as the Antigravity battery you're using is designed to work with the stock charging system on your bike, you should have no problem installing this unit on your machine.
By Chris
Answer QuestionYes, the 1999 Yamaha YZF-R1 does indeed have a regulator/rectifier assembly. It's located just in front of the battery under the seat.
By Tyler
Answer QuestionIn the case of the 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6, there is no wire harness included with the unit. In fact, you'll notice that, once you select your machine from our fit guide, the description indicates that you must purchase a Rick's Motorsports Connector Set part number 11-103 in order to complete the installation when using the OEM stator. With those two components, you'll have everything you need to replace the OEM regulator/rectifier on your machine.
By mike
Answer QuestionYes, this unit is designed to plug straight into the OEM Suzuki Intruder 1400's wire loom. You don't need to solder any wires in order to replace the stock regulator/rectifier on that machine. What you see is exactly what you'll get once you select your bike from our fit guide.
By William
Answer QuestionThis regulator/rectifier is made by a company called Rick's Motorsports Electrics. It's an OEM-replacement part, not an original Yamaha part. Unlike the Yamaha part, however, all of Rick's regulator/rectifiers are covered by a one year manufacturer's warranty. If you were to visit your local Yamaha dealer and buy this same part, it's not covered by a warranty of any kind. So, in addition to being less expensive than the OEM YZF-R6 regulator/rectifier, it comes with a better warranty!
By Curt
Answer QuestionIf you were to choose the 1992 Kawasaki KZ1000P Police from our fit guide, you'd get the correct regulator/rectifier to fit that machine. It'll plug straight into the OEM harness without issue.
By Wheat
Answer QuestionNo, these particular units are not MOSFET-switched. To get that, you'd need to purchase a Rick's Motorsports Hot Shot Regulator/Rectifier as those use MOSFET switching.
By Scott
Answer QuestionThe hot shot variety is designed specifically to work on machines with a higher electrical load than the stock regulator/rectifier. Basically, if you're running a heat vest, hand warmers or have added some extra lights to the bike, then go with the Hot Shot setup. Otherwise, the regulator regulator/rectifier will do the job if your bike is stock, electrically-speaking.
By Alan
Answer QuestionRick's does indeed produce a regulator/rectifier that'll fit the 2002 Suzuki SV650. Just choose your machine from our fit guide and we'll send the proper unit to fit, fast!

99 Yamaha r1
Answer QuestionYou'll need a Rick's Motorsports Wiring Harness Connector Kit in order to install this YZF-R1 Yamaha Regulator/Rectifier on your machine. The kit comes with all the components required for fitting this unit on your bike.
By GSXR girl
Answer QuestionRick's Motorsports stators are not OEM parts, but rather - OEM replacement parts. They're designed to meet or exceed OEM standards for the parts that they replace. And, they're covered by a one year manufacturer's warranty. If you were to purchase this same part from an OEM dealer, it wouldn't be backed by a warranty of any kind. That's what is particularly nice about parts from Rick's Motorsports Electrics.
By Bob
Answer QuestionSo long as you're fitting the unit to a 1997 or 1998 CBR1100XX Blackbird or 90-97 VFR750F, yes - you would receive 10-115. That particular unit does have cooling fins.
By Vinnie
I just replaced my regulator/rectifier on my 1999 Yamaha R1, and I'm seeing Volt reading at 14.73. My battery specifications say do not exceed 14.6. Assuming you had one that fits my bike - and before buying, I would like to confirm this units capabilities.
Answer QuestionThe OEM service manual for the 1999 Yamaha YZF-R1 shows an acceptable voltage regulator output range of 14.1 - 14.9 volts. Given that Rick's regulators are designed to perform within OEM specifications, you can expect the same voltage output for this unit (14.1 - 14.9V). Given that the battery on your machine calls for a lower maximum output voltage, you're going to have to mock-up some sort of custom in-line resister circuit in order to avoid exceeding the battery's charging specifications. This is due to the fact that all the regulator/rectifiers we sell to fit the R1 are designed to operate to those OEM voltage specifications.
By Chris
Answer QuestionYes, absolutely! We do have a regulator available to fit the 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1. Simply select your machine from the fit guide that's to the right of the image above and we'll get you the correct regulator to fit your bike, guaranteed!
By Anon.
Answer QuestionYes, all Rick's Motorsports Electrics regulator/rectifiers are covered by a one year manufacturer's warranty.
