Voltage regulator rectifier

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Oem started over charging, bought a cheap one elsewhere. Bad idea almost burned rzr to ground. RM'S hot shot works great and no more problems so far. Cost a bit more but don't go cheap it will cost you more in long haul. Great product.

Plug & play.

By   on  Verified Purchaser

I admit I over load my electrical system (sigh). After running & plugging everything in no problem what so ever. Product as advertised.

The Hotshot regulator/rectifier fit good, and is performing great.

Solid product

Thank you for a solid product. I was having over voltage (17+ volts) issues that kept blowing my headlight due to a bad rectifier so installed new one and works great back down to normal.

Regulator

By   on  Verified Purchaser

This is not plug n play for my 91 FLHTCU, as advertised. Took a little work to figure mounting and had to cut/splice/heat sharing and get creative on mounting. Solved my problem though.

Always great service

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Ricks equipment is always top notch. Thanks

Voltage regulator

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Received regulator in box without any padding and one yellow wire was not fastened to clip in harness. Had to reconnect to clip.

Hot Shot Regulator

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Was a big upgrade to the standard R/R that was fitted in my ducati st2. Easy plug n play design. Only thing is it is slightly bigger so had to make a few adjustments to fit correctly to the bike.

Great parts! I highly recommend.

Ricks Hot Shot Regulator

By   on  Verified Purchaser

The screws provided did not thread into the holes. A tapered screw with the same thread profile of the stock screw should be provided. Other than that, the product is a 5.

Good replacement

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Needed a replacement, this one fit the bill perfect. I like that it’s black as well. Looks cleaner since it has been relocated on the outside of frame rail.

Best Ever

By   on

This is well worth the price, I have an 06 GSX-R 600 with Power Commander 5, Dyno Tech Tuned and it works so smoothly.

Works great!

By   on  Verified Purchaser

Replaced my stock regulator with this hot shot. The stock one couldn't keep up with my accessories, but all was well when I plugged this thing in.

Questions & Answers

Ask Question

Is this a plug and play Regulator/Rectifier for a 2020 Polaris RZR RS1?

Yes ... sort of! The R/R that fits that machine on our website actually has a 10 foot long harness that allows you to install it elsewhere on the machine. It does plug into the OEM wire harness, and you can position it in the OEM location, but you'll have to wrap the harness using the included zip ties to keep it from dangling everywhere. Some riders like to move these in a different spot to make wire accessories easier, for example.

Answer Question

Will this help preventing issues with the stator burning on a 2007 VFR interceptor?

Will this help preventing issues with the stator burning on a 2007 VFR interceptor? People are replacing the stock rectifier with a Shindengen SH847 which makes the stator run cooler. Will this do the same by not only running the rectifier cooler, but also the stator? Your unit is a direct replacement and easy install. The SH847 not so much (and more expensive).

Oftentimes, regulator/rectifier burnout is a consequence of the input (stator) power supply, not so much the demand of the output side. That is to say, if the OEM Honda VFR stator is running on the lower end of its output range, the rectifier portion of the R/R has to work harder to maintain proper downstream voltage, resulting in a hotter-running unit and shorter lifespan. We always, and I cannot say this enough - we strongly recommend that you replace the stator unit along with the regulator/rectifier, especially if you'd had burnout issues in the past. Taken together, you can be assured of proper power output coming from the stator, which means the rectifier side of the R/R doesn't have to work as hard to keep up with the bike's electrical demand, meaning that it'll run cooler and last longer.

Answer Question

Will this fit a 2012 Polaris 900xp

I melted my mofset regulator as it caused a fire and burned the plastic under the mounting at the wire connection coming out of the regulator

Maybe - it depends on what type of R/R you had on your machine, or more specifically, what type of connector. Polaris really likes to change things up mid-year for some reason. The R/R we have on offer here only fits 2012 Polaris RZR XP 900 models with an oval-shaped connector with build date after 3/16/12. If that describes your machine, then yes, this will fit. Just be sure to check out what connector you have on your machine!

Answer Question

I have a 2011 kawasaki versys 650 with no electrical ad on. It keeps burning up stators. Will your hot shot rectifier help with that, so I can ride instead of working on my bike?

Yes, the Hot Shot version would run cooler than OEM style regulators to prevent issues such as overheating.

Answer Question

Will this fit my 2012 GSXR 600?

Yes, just be sure to choose that 2012 Suzuki GSX-R600 when adding to your cart to get the correct regulator to fit that bike.

Answer Question

Would this fit with a ricks stator for a 2006 gsxr 600

Replacing both since someone hardwired the older stator to the stock r/r previously to me owner the bike

Yes, you should have no problem using this with a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600.

Answer Question

Can this hot shot regulator rectifier be ran with a lithium battery

If you are going to run a lithium battery, we suggest going for the Rick's Motorsports Hot Shot Lithium-Ion Compatible Regulator/Rectifier.

By Andy
Answer Question

Will this fit a 03 cbr600rr

So long as that is the bike you choose before adding it to your cart, you will get the correct part to fit that bike.

Answer Question

Will this fit a 2009 Suzuki Burgman AN650?

Does the wiring match up, will I have to modify anything?

If you were to select the 2009 Suzuki AN650 Burgman 650 regulator/rectifier from our fit guide, you'd receive the correct part to fit your machine. And yes, the connectors will plug straight into the stock connectors on that machine as well. There's no need to cut and solder anything in order to fit this unit to your Burgman. Installation is only a matter of swapping out parts.

Answer Question

will this be a direct plug in replacement for the 2008 KTM 690 Enduro stock unit? The picture doesn't show all the correct connectors.

This Hotshots regulator-rectifier is designed with Mosfet technology; a cooler running rectifier-regulator. Rick's design is different than the OEM part; installation instructions will be included. The three pin charge connector is the same as OEM for the 2008 KTM 690 Enduro.

Answer Question

I have a 2001 Victory v92c deluxe with the original OEM regulator and stator. Ive seen videos saying both were bad units from the factory. If i change/replace the regulator with a new-updated unit, do i need to change the stator as well?

Both the stator and rectifier/regulator are the factory originals.

Generally speaking, you want to replace both parts at the same time. Especially if the stator is bad, because if that's the case - you're just going to continue frying the rectifier circuit of the R/R due to the stator's insufficient voltage output. And besides, if both units are a known issue when new, why not get that taken care of before you end up stuck somewhere far from home?

Answer Question

Will this fit a 2007 Suzuki gsxr 750?

I've read on forums that people will switch OEM r/r from 2008 and 2009 to the 07 but I'm not sure if this Rick's one will fit and if I'd have to buy an additional connector. And if I use this hot shot r/r will I have to use the hot shot stator as well?

If you were to choose the 2007 Suzuki GSX-R750 Rick's Motorsports Hot Shot Regulator/Rectifier from our fit guide, you'd receive the correct R/R to fit your machine. The 2009 models use a different wire scheme, so while you could certainly use that on your older bike, you'd need to do a little wire loom modification to get it to fit. So, if you're after a trouble-free installation, go for the 2007 GSX-R750 Hot Shot Regulator/Rectifier and you won't have any problems fitting it to your bike!

Answer Question

What is the benefit going with the mofset style vs stock? Any difference in wiring?

Since the MOSFET design is really transconductance device - voltage on the gate allows current through the device. Since the gate is high-impedance to the source, it doesn't require a constant gate current to bias the device on. It really only needs to overcome the inherent capacitance to get the gate charged up then the gate consumption becomes miniscule. For this reason, it runs cooler and much more stable than the stock design on most motorcycles and ATVs. Because it runs cooler, you can expect it to last longer than a BJT-type device.
