Rick's Motorsports Hot Shot Stator

When adding new electrical components to your machine, it's critical your bike's power generating system has the ability to cope with the added power demands. Bolting a high-discharge headlight, or adding a stereo to your machine can strain the stock electrical system to the point of failure.

Rick's Hot Shot stator is specifically designed for machines that have additional, power-hungry aftermarket parts on them. With this high-output stator, you can expect to get the most out bigger lights, stereo add-ons or even a winch on your ATV.

  • High output stator from Rick's Motorsports
  • Perfect for additional electrical demands of aftermarket parts
  • Backed by a one year manufacturer's warranty

Product Note: Produces higher output than stock stator.

Questions & Answers

Ask Question

Would it fit my 87 xr250r

Yes, there is a Hot Shot Stator offered for that 1987 XR250R. Just be sure that is the bike selected when you add it to your cart.

By Andy
Answer Question

Will it fit a 1986xl600r? Do I need to hook up the green power wire to a regulator?

Do I need to hook up the green power wire to a Ricky regulator

Yes, this stator is offered for that 1986 XL600R. You would need to use a regulator with this stator due to the higher output of power.

By Andy
Answer Question

On my 1999 1600 road star will the OEM regulator work with this high output stator

I'm sure it would work for some time but, ultimately would be best used with the Rick's Motorsports Hot Shot Regulator. The higher output will make the OEM regulator work more, creating more heat, which will cause it to fail eventually.

By Andy
Answer Question

Which regulator will I need for this application? 1997 rm250 Suzuki with Tusk lighting kit.

You would need to search our site for Rick's Motorsports Regulator. Then you can choose your 1997 Suzuki RM250 to get the correct regulator.

By Andy
Answer Question

Will this work on 1997 rm250 kickstart

Yes, we do have a Hot Shot stator available for that 1997 Suzuki RM250. Just be sure to choose that model when checking out to get the correct stator.

By Andy
Answer Question

Will this stator. Fit. For sure on my 93 xr250r and will i need to upgrade the cdi or anything else for optimum output

Yes, this would fit that 1993 Honda XR250R so long as that is the model you choose before adding to your cart. You should not need any other parts to see the optimum output.

By Andy
Answer Question

Will this stator work on a 97 suzuki rm250?

Yes, as long as you choose a 1997 Suzuki RM250 when adding to your cart, you will get the correct stator.

By Andy
Answer Question

Will it fit a banshee 350

Yeah, you should be able to choose a Yamaha Banshee before adding it to your cart in order to get the correct stator.

By Andy
Answer Question

I have an 86 honda atc 250r that I want to run an LED light. Is the stator all i need to change it from ac to dc? do I need to purchase a different regulator or delete the ac regulator?

I believe you should be good with just the Hot Shot stator. Your stock regulator should be able to do the job.

By Andy
Answer Question

I have a 2001 Yamaha Banshee, what is the output wattage for the stator, I plan on running an extra set of lights.

The Hot Shot stator which fits the 2001 Yamaha Banshee has a 200W output.

Answer Question

My son ordered a stator from you guys for my Rhino 660 2006, high output, will it require any other pieces to work, or will just hook up like original, just want to make sure I have everything when I go to replac it

The high-output stator on its own will work fine with the Rhino's charging system, but the get the best possible performance out of it from the output side, we recommend the use of a matching Rick's Motorsports Hot Shot Regulator/Rectifier. It'll handle the higher voltage coming off the stator with ease, as it's specifically engineered to work with that stator. Yes, the OEM regulator/rectifier will work as well - but the extra voltage may shorten its life a little bit.

Answer Question

I have a 2001 Yamaha Road Star. What is the output of the Hot Shot Stator in relation to the OEM unit?

According to Rick's, the Hot Shot stator for the 2001 Yamaha Road Star puts out 380 watts of power. Mind you, this particular stator requires that you re-use the OEM grommet and trigger coil to complete the installation. The included instructions explain exactly how to go about that process.

Answer Question

Is this the highest output stator you guys carry? I have a Honda Z50. I'd like to power a stereo sound system.

The Hot Shot stators are the most powerful stators we have from any of our suppliers. The manufacturer lists the high-output Z50's stator at 90 watts. Hopefully, you'll find this unit powerful enough to fit your needs.

Answer Question

Hello. Will this fit a 86 lt230s?

Rick's does not currently produce a stator to fit the 1986 Suzuki LT230S at this time. You may want to reach out to them directly about rebuild services.

By Staff
Answer Question

Will this fit the 84 honda trx 200 atv?

Rick's does not currently offer a Hot Shots stator to fit the 1984 Honda TRX200 FourTrax 200 2x4. They do offer rebuild services directly through their location. I'm sure they can wind that stator to produce more output for this machine. All you would need to do is reach out to them directly.

Answer Question

What is the actual amperage and voltage output of this stator

2002 Yamaha royal star venture

This higher output stator will provide 480 watts of power (40-45 amps) when installed on the 2002 Yamaha XVZ1300TF Royal Star Venture.

By Staff
Answer Question

Your picture shows an extra wire - the white one w the 1/4 connector. My 87 honda xl600r only has the square connector and the round one. Is this something that you are aware of, ie is it only used on some model years?

This higher output stator will provide an additional 75-80 watts of power. It requires Rick's 10-443 regulator to use the additional wattage. Detailed installation instructions will be provided for both parts. The extra wire is a voltage sensing wire for use with the Ricks regulator for the 83-87' Honda XL600R models.

Answer Question

Gasket included

There are no gaskets included with any Rick's stators. In many cases, if you're careful when pulling off the OEM stator cover, you can re-use the gasket without issue. Still, it never hurts to have a spare stator gasket on hand for doing the installation. We do have a range Rick's Motorsports Stator Cover Gaskets available so you can be ready in case the original gasket fails.

By Staff
Answer Question

Is this stator compatable with the stock cdi and coil on a 88 trx250r? Would the hotshot cdi box be a compliment to the hot shot stator?

High-output stators for the Honda TRX250R will indeed work with the stock regulator/rectifier and the OEM Honda CDI box. If you were to install a Rick's TRX250R Hot Shot CDI box, the extra power output wouldn't go wasted. Furthermore, if you machine is equipped with aftermarket lights or other electrical accessories, you wouldn't be remiss to put this device on your ATV as the added power output makes sure everything operates correctly.

By Staff
Answer Question

Will this stator start a Suzuki DR650 when roll starting with a dead battery?

You should have no problem bump-starting your bike with this stator installed, regardless of battery condition, so long as you have a battery installed. If the battery isn't on the bike, the electrical system isn't grounded properly and it simply won't start. Also of note, the bike does require a good state of tune. If your bike starts hard even with a full battery charge, it will be difficult to bump start regardless of what stator you have installed.
