I have a 2000 shadow vlx 600 , do I need to do anything to my bike or will it run ok just swapping out pipes ?

It would be suggested to also install a jet kit to ensure the bike is getting enough fuel for that more freely flowing exhaust. Just search our site for Jet Kit, choose your year/make/model and you should be find exactly what you need.
These Cobra Fatty Shotgun pipes are only designed to fit the Honda Shadow 600 VLX models. I have checked with all of our suppliers, none of them currently offer any pipes to fit the 1988 Honda VT800C Shadow 800 at this time.
Planning on installing this system on an 02 Shadow 600 VLX, do you include the 2 needed exhaust gaskets or do they need to be purchased separately?
There are no exhaust port gaskets included with this exhaust. Often, if they're in good condition, you can simply re-use the stock gaskets when putting this pipe on your bike. Of course, before you get into the bike, you may want to have a set on hand. We have a set of K&L Exhaust Pipe Gaskets for the 2002 Honda Shadow 600 exhaust gaskets that you can order along with your exhaust so you'll get everything you need in one box.
Cobra's Fatty Shotgun Exhaust System will not fit the 1998 Honda Shadow Spirit.
